My Mundane Musings

Growing up I longed for the fast paced life of big city life and corporate America. Now I’m a stay at home mom of 4 in a small rural community! And I wouldn’t have it any other way! (At least for now).

Well, our laundry delimma is solved.  We bought a nice, used dryer from friends for $25.  I told Chip that even if it only works for a month it’s a lot cheaper than what we would spend going and drying our clothes at the laundry.  So, I’m happily doing laundry today for a change.

Chip had a pretty good Father’s Day I think.  We didn’t do anything real special for him since we’d bought him three shirts earlier in the week.  We had church in the morning and then his mom and I ran to Subway to pick up lunch before going to the funeral.  After the funeral was the funeral dinner at the church.  Our people just make me so proud.  They do a great job of putting together something like that and really making it special for the family – especially if it’s one of our own.  We cancelled the evening service since most of our people didn’t get to go home until after 4pm.

We all ate a simple dinner and decided that it was too nice of an evening to sit at home.  Chip had suggested minigolf, but when I saw the price I thought $20 was just a bit much to pay – especially since Kait & Noah weren’t likely to golf much anyway but we still had to pay for them.  So, we decided to head out to one of the many nature areas around the lake and go for a walk.  We had a great time and even got to see some deer.  The kids thought it was pretty cool.  We did however decide that we either need an all-terrain stroller or a carrier/sling because while our stroller is ok for walking on sidewalks or at the mall, it is definitely NOT made for paths through the woods.  (We bought a carrier today with a gift card for Seth we hadn’t used yet).

Once we were done walking, we went for ice cream before coming home.  Chip said he had a lot of fun and can’t wait to go out again.  We’re looking at getting a GPS so we can start doing some Geocaching this fall.

This morning, Chip went to pick up the dryer and then after lunch we went up to Target and Walmart to get what we need for the week.  We FINALLY found a swimsuit for Kait with floaties inside that didn’t cost an arm and a leg.  I think the plan is to go swimming tonight after dinner but we’re still trying to decide.  A lot depends on how the kids act for the rest of the afternoon.

Time to go see about getting dinner started.

That’s a great deal for a dryer. Ours is starting to leave rust spots on white clothes. sigh…

You might want to try letterboxing. The website is at

You can do it for free and it fun to go in search of stuff other people have left. 🙂
