My Mundane Musings

Growing up I longed for the fast paced life of big city life and corporate America. Now I’m a stay at home mom of 4 in a small rural community! And I wouldn’t have it any other way! (At least for now).

The hustle and bustle is over for us.  It came to a screeching hault today as perspective crashed into our lives and the things that are really important became painfully obvious as we were forced to put away the frivolity of the season for bigger things.

Chip’s mother is in the hospital.  We got a call early this afternoon that simply said she had gotten sick at work and fallen out in her office so they brought her downstairs to the ER and they admitted her for observation.  When Chip got to the hospital, we found out that what had actually happened is someone had found her in her office with barely a blood pressure and it was a rather serious situation.  Around 5pm tonight, her blood pressure bottomed out again and they made the decision to transfer her to a larger hospital in Decatur for emergency surgery to install a pacemaker.

Once they got her moved tonight, the cardiologist made the decision to not do anything drastic tonight, but to monitor her and get things moving in the morning.  So, tomorrow, she will have a pacemaker installed and they will then do a heart catherization to check for blockages and such.  There is something wrong with the lower part of her heart although Chip’s dad really couldn’t tell us what it is.  Chip said that at one point she had flatlined for two entire pages of the EKG readout.  We should know more tomorrow.

But it really puts into perspective what is really important in life.  While it’s nice to have gifts and such to open for Christmas, it’s even nicer to have the ones we love home and able to open them with us.  We appreciate the prayers of those of you who are praying and we’ll try and keep everyone up to date.

Prayers said!  I hope the pacemaker resolves all of her issues and she is able to come home soon.
