The house is clean, the decorations are up, football is on the television and Christmas is upon us. Soon the house will fill with hustle and bustle as family arrives to join the celebration. We’ll have a simple dinner filled with the non-stop chatter of the kids anxiously awaiting the opening of the Christmas presents (and Chip’s dad will join right in – he’s as bad as the kids!). After dinner, we’ll settle in to reflect on all that we truly have to celebrate this year, which is even more in the forefront of our minds this year than usual. We’re grateful that Chip’s mom will be home with us for Christmas. We’re grateful that God worked in a miraculous way in her body to let us celebrate with her. We’ll read the Christmas story from Luke 2. And we’ll pray over the year to come. Presents will come next and while we cut back this year, we’re sure the kids will really enjoy their gifts. Once the kids are all bathed and nestled in bed, Chip and I will sit down to celebrate. It was 10 years ago this Christmastime that he asked me to be his bride and beaming, I said yes. We’ll celebrate in the quiet of the night and look back over the years and rejoice over the ones yet to come. I really think that this is the best day of the entire year.
Merry Christmas everyone!
