My Mundane Musings

Growing up I longed for the fast paced life of big city life and corporate America. Now I’m a stay at home mom of 4 in a small rural community! And I wouldn’t have it any other way! (At least for now).

Elijah had a great game tonight.  After the game, we came home to eat and Chip took the older kids back out to the park to watch the older kids play.  One thing led to another and they ended up at the playground.  Somehow, Elijah fell.  He was climbing the twisty slide in his cleats, let go because someone above him slipped and in the process fell and banged his head, resulting in a 3cm laceration next to his eye.  ICK!

So, Chip loaded up the kids and got them home, we called a friend and headed off to the ER with Elijah.  2 hours and 6 stitches later, we’re home.  He freaked a little bit when they said he was going to need stitches, but did really well once they finally got down to business.  He had a student do them and while I was a bit nervous about having a student do stitches on his face (if it had been Kait I probably would have insisted they get someone in plastics to come do it), the dr said that he should consider going into plastic surgery because he was so good. *insert big sigh of relief here*

Thankfully, swimming isn’t going to be a problem.  The dr said to keep them dry for 24 hours and then he should be fine.  He has to go back to have them out in 5 days – so Saturday.  And they HAVE to come out in 5 days because there can be problems getting facial sutures out if you wait until they start to scab over.  So we’ll be back in the ER on Saturday to get them taken out.

So, we just tucked him into bed and we’re not too far behind him ourselves.  I’ll take a picture and post it in the morning.
