My Mundane Musings

Growing up I longed for the fast paced life of big city life and corporate America. Now I’m a stay at home mom of 4 in a small rural community! And I wouldn’t have it any other way! (At least for now).

I know as a pastors wife I should be spouting the dangers of Halloween.  Honestly, I’m doubting seriously that my 4 year old is sad he’s missing out on worshipping the devil.  He’s more sad that he can’t dress up like a pirate and go out and collect candy from his friends parents.  However, I will tell you that there is an evil about Halloween that you won’t find talked about on most conservative Christian sites.

It’s the danger of…

the AFTER Halloween candy sales!!!!

We made the mistake of going to Target this evening.  As we were walking towards the pharmacy to get a prescription filled for Kait, we passed a lady with an entire shopping cart FILLED with candy.  I thought that must mean that the candy was on sale.

Sure enough – it was all marked down to 75% off!!!  And there was TONS left.  We only spent about $8 on candy, but got enough to last us until next Halloween!  However, so was a really cute desk lamp – for only $1.98!  I’d been needing a lamp for the desk.  And it’s RED!!!  I recently read a book that said every room needs a splash of red.  I’m starting to think that’s correct!

Otherwise, it was a fairly uneventful day.  Kait and Seth had doctors appointments this morning.  Kait is now up into the 50# area.  After almost 7 years of battling reflux, we finally broke down and got her a prescription.  Up until recently, giving her tums would help, but it seems to have gotten worse as she’s gotten older (the drs all told us she would most likely outgrow it).  She’s in the 50% percentile for her weight for her height and in the 90% for her height for her age.

Seth is now 32.5 inches and weighs a “whopping” 26lbs.  He’s up 1.5 inches and 3 lbs in the last 3 months and finally in the 50th percentile for his age.  He had a blood draw for his lead screening today and Chip said the tech was pretty nervous about doing it because he was so little, but he sat really still and hardly fussed at all.  He’s such a brave little guy.

Tomorrow, Chip and his dad are going to fix a hole in the roof.  We didn’t notice it leaking until this late spring, but apparently when the tree fell last November during that huge storm we had, it punched a small hole in the roof that is causing our back overflow to leak some.  He’s got some other maintenance stuff to do around the yard.  It sure is good to be home!
