Yesterday brought the close to the longest week of our year. We had babysitting, VBS and the baseball tournament all crammed into one week. I was filling out the date on something today and realized that I lost a whole week of dates somewhere along the way due to the busyness. But it was a good week and I’m really looking forward to a week off this week!
Elijah’s team did an outstanding job this season. They finished the regular season undefeated and had the number one seed in the tournament out of 23 teams. They played a great final yesterday for the championship and the teams were pretty evenly matched. Luck just happened to be on the side of the other team yesterday. So, their team took 2nd in the tournament. Here’s Elijah with his trophy…
Not sure if y’all can see the dust on his hat, but those boys were all filthy after playing a hard game in a very hot sun. Well done Okaw Valley! And now that baseball is done for the season for all of them (Kait & Noah get their trophies on Thursday), we’ll hang up our cleats for another year.
We hurried home from the ballgame to get Kait and Noah home on time for the VBS program. It was a great program and our director (we host every 5 years) did a phenomonal job with those kids! Kait did a great job with her age, but Noah stole the show. You know the videos that you see with kids that are doing a potty dance? Well, that was my son last night! He was jumping around and dancing back and forth. Once they were done with their song (mercifully it was only one), he jumped off the stage – yes, instead of walking down the stairs – and returned to his seat. Only to have an entire row of first graders (Kait and a bunch of her friends) stand up and tell him to go to the bathroom. He tore up that middle aisle to the bathroom so fast that the entire place just burst out in laughter. My son, ladies and gentlemen! ROFL!
After a long week and a hard loss at baseball, we walked up the hill to get “consolation” ice cream to drown our sorrows. Or maybe it was celebratory ice cream for making it through such a hard week. Or maybe it was a great way to kick off our week of NOTHING to do – no baseball, no babysitting kids (they are gone for the week), no concrete plans for the week. I’m sooo looking forward to it!
Happy Monday everyone!
