My Mundane Musings

Growing up I longed for the fast paced life of big city life and corporate America. Now I’m a stay at home mom of 4 in a small rural community! And I wouldn’t have it any other way! (At least for now).

Oh happy day!!! September 2, 2008

Remember that concert… August 8, 2008

Way back in May that I stayed up to watch Phil Wickham live from Portland on streaming video? Well, it’s now been turned into a live cd! And he’s making it available for FREE on his blog starting today 08.08.08. It’s the perfect CD to gear up for the Olympics to! Ok, so maybe not exactly, but it’s definitely worth your time (which I understand is way more valuable than your money so I won’t sell you short) to download and give a listen. Phil’s song “You’re Beautiful” is definitely one of my current favorites!

Happy Independence Day! July 4, 2008

Hope you all had a wonderful day celebrating the freedoms that we have here in the United States of America.

We’ve spent a great day with family and are getting ready to head out for the fireworks. We’ll find a place out in the cornfields, kick back and relax and enjoy the show before coming back to do our own.

Meet Henry… June 28, 2008

Hopping Henry to be exact! He lives under the ramp for the church. Or maybe behind it. Wherever he makes his home, he comes out to play with my kids quite regularly. I’ve decided that he must enjoy being caught because the silly thing keeps coming back for more.

When he first made his appearance, none of my kids would touch him. They’d scoop him up and put him in a shoebox. It was all very Michigan J. Frog-ish. I even had them convinced that if they were really sneaky, maybe they’d catch him singing and dancing. I’m going to have to YouTube that to show them what I’m talking about. Because I’m pretty sure they all thought I was a bit daft.

But today, Seth was brave. He saw Henry and scooped him right up. Carried him over and put him in the box. I guess it was just a matter of time before one of them picked him up with their hands. I am a mom of three boys after all. (Oh dear Lord, please, please, please don’t let me find a frog in a pocket! That will definitely be more than I can handle! Amen!) And boys like frogs. And toads. And all manner of creepy crawlies!

So, meet Henry…

We’re off today to Kait’s last softball game and then back to drop Seth off for a sleepover at Grandma’s (he’s still afraid of the fireworks so he’s going to sleep there instead of coming with us) and then off to Celebration where we’ll partake in all kinds of things that will throw off my Gyminee account!

So, what are you up to today?

iTunes… June 14, 2008

iTunes and I have a love/hate relationship. Right now we’re not on speaking terms. I’m tired of yelling at it. We’ll make up later tonight out of necessity, but right now I’m beyond frustrated with it.

Does anyone know if there is an easy way to reimport all of the music in iTunes? Without doing it all one by one? Because right now all by about 20 songs in my iTunes account are being labeled as “the original account cannot be found.” I’m sure that’s because all of the music is on a portable hard drive, but if I have to import them all song by song, well, iTunes and I just might have to breakup for a while.

Anyone out there have any idea how to help me?

On being a pastors wife… June 6, 2008

Now, my husband is so much better than most pastors about not using me or the kids as sermon material. He’s always very careful and when he refers to me when speaking, he almost always oks it with me before hand. He *never* airs our dirty laundry. Ever. And he calls me by name. When I hear a pastor using his wife as an illustration, I realize that they’ll say “my wife” before they put their foot in their mouth. When when they use their wives first name, it’s usually followed by something uplifting. There’s probably a lesson in that. Because I can’t tell you the number of times that I’ve cringed as some pastor *thought* he was being funny by publically humiliating his wife.

Anyway, I saw this video several places in the last few weeks (most recently via PinkHairedGirl) and thought I’d share for all of you fellow pastors’ wives out there. Enjoy…

I WON!!! June 5, 2008

I just got an email from one the authors of one of my favorite chick lit series and I won a copy of her new book!  I should be getting my copy of Sisterchicks Go Brit! in the mail soon! So excited! I love winning stuff, but actually winning something that I want is ever better!

The reading program at the library kicked off this morning. So Kait and I spent a good bit of time this afternoon in her email and finding out what books she was going to have to read for other various reading programs that she’s gotten emails about. Might as well do it all at once, eh? They kicked off the reading program with a petting zoo today. My kids loved it and I think I have a couple pictures for tomorrow’s “Foto Friday”.

Tonight, we have TWO ballgames. Thankfully both are here at home and that makes our lives much less complicated. Kait is patiently reading over my shoulder so we can do something with her hair to keep it off her neck (it’s 87 degrees and HUMID out there). Then we’ll walk from one diamond to another to watch Elijah play. I’m already anticipating much needed showers for all of us when we get home tonight!
